Chihayafuru 2 Episode 11--The Will To Win

Muse: I’m going to start off with a bit of an apology to Porky.

Chihayafuru 2 Episode 10--The Amazon Star

Justin: So I think for the most part, this episode of Chihayafuru had a balance of main characters appearing at good times. Of course, the most important character thanks to the cliffhanger last week got his fate determined.

Let’s just say though, that it was a surprise in how it all turned out.

Chihayafuru 2 Episode 9--What Does It Mean to Love Karuta, Arata?

Muse: I don’t know where to start with this episode. Well, no, that’s not true, I know exactly where to start... Arata! After all those times where he only showed up briefly, usually at the end of an episode--to the point where it was almost a running joke!--he not only got a great chunk of screentime, but was also the main focus of the episode! Arata! I’ve missed you!

Chihayafuru 2 Episode 8--The Best Karuta is Beautiful to Watch

Justin: I think by now everyone who has watched Chihayafuru 2 has realized a lot of things, but one thing is definitely obvious: Madhouse has somehow managed to juggle a number of different plot elements in every episode and make it come out almost relatively clean. Episode 8, for me, was a culmination of their ability to manage important plot elements while not either lessening one scene from the other or going so fast that we lose sight of the core of the episode.

Chihayafuru 2 Episode 7--Nationals is a Family Affair

Muse: I was expecting this episode to jump right into the Nationals the way that the first season did, but instead we got a “calm before the storm” episode.

Chihayafuru 2 Episode 6--What Do You Know About Karuta?

Justin: I think it’s pretty clear there’s a good chance Hokuo and Misuzawa will meet at some point during the Nationals.

Well, it’s going to be hard to trump what happened between them in this episode.

Chihayafuru 2 Episode 5--“If You Don't Pull it Together, I Will Stab You!”

Muse: While last week was Taichi central, this week splits its focus between a lot of different characters, as this show often does during final matches. However, this time around, the tension is based purely around character conflicts and pride, since both schools are guaranteed a spot at the national tournament.
