Summer 2011 Final Impressions

With the Fall 2011 season now underway, I'd like to reflect for a moment on the shows that I watched over the summer but didn't blog on a weekly basis. Better late than never, right? Summer was the first full anime season that I've blogged, since I started back in May during the Spring 2011 season. I'd like to think that I've become a better blogger over that period of time. Anyway, this post is as spoiler-free as possible, so don't worry about reading a review for a show you haven't seen yet. Please keep in mind that the following is based off of my own personal opinion. Feel free to respectfully disagree with me in the comments.

Dantalian no Shoka Episode 12--Out With a Bang (Final Thoughts)

Apologizes for this post being absurdly late. I think that the internet in my dorm has a vendetta against me. Anyway, holy crap was this a good episode.

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 26--A New Beginning (Final Thoughts)

That yakisoba man is a genius. Not only did he read the mood correctly, but he also delivered the food at the perfect moment. That's just one of many things I loved about this episode.

Blood-C Episode 12--I Accidentally the Entire Town (Final Thoughts)

I guess I used up all of my rage last week, because I wasn't mad at this episode at all. What a way to end a show.

Dantalian no Shoka Episode 11--And if I Were Gay, I Would Give You My Heart

"Hey, you know what would be fun? If we made a backstory episode that explains nothing and raises even more questions!"

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 25--This is Sparta Kissuisō

It felt like a lot of the characters had misplaced their brains for the majority of the episode, so I'm glad it ended the way it did.

Blood-C Episode 11--Did it for the Lulz/Money/Fame

Only this show would manage to make a "reveal" episode obvious and boring at the same time.

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 24--Stubbornness

I think that the heron should be the final boss (in a video game sense), but maybe that's just me.

Dantalian no Shoka Episode 10--Bringing the House Down

And not in a good way. I guess that they ran out of obscure cultural references for books and decided to go for music instead?

Blood-C Episode 10--We've Been Trolled?

So... yeah. I'm really not sure what to make of this new development. It definitely came out of left field. Maybe there's more to the plot after all.

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 23--Guess Who's Back

Late post because of school/job hunting/crap dorm internet/other excuses, etc. As for the episode, I was expecting the big reunion moment to happen at the festival, but this works too.

Dantalian no Shoka Episode 9--What Am I Watching

Meanwhile, in a show with a completely different art direction...

Blood-C Episode 9--Massacre

I'm not sure if there's enough blood in this show. They should add some more. /sarcasm

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 22--A Good Day for a Wedding

Enishi and Takako tie the knot as the series gears up for the finale. And with four episodes to go, there's still plenty of material to cover.

Dantalian no Shoka Episode 8--Fool Me Once

Now that I've given up on the expectation of an overarching plot, it was much easier this week to enjoy this episode. However, that doesn't mean that the content was up to par.

Blood-C Episode 8--The Return of Singing

Although my initial frustration about CLAMP making yet another crossover has worn off, I'm still not happy with the serious pacing issues that this series has.

Back to business as usual this week, with no hint that anything is going to change. Clearly the show is happy with its book-of-the-week format.
