Prisma Illya was...okay, I guess. I didn't hate it, but it's not exactly a standout in the magical girl genre. However, it did have it's moments, and one in particular completely blew me away.
There's a long stretch in the middle where the characters are trapped in an alternate reality while fighting against a particularly powerful opponent--Alter Saber, although this isn't explicitly stated--in their quest to obtain magic cards that contain power-ups. However, this battle becomes much bleaker than the previous ones once the girls throw literally everything they can at their enemy without leaving a scratch. For the first time in the show, death is a real possibility, and Illya completely shuts down.
What follows is pretty much a deus ex machina moment, but I'm more than willing to let it slide. Illya summons new, completely unknown powers from the card that she'd received earlier, resulting in one of the best battle scenes all year. Silver Link pulled out all the stops here, easily rivaling the work done by ufortable in Fate/Zero. Yes, it's really that good.
It's truly something that needs to be seen to be believed, and even if you watch nothing else from this show, I urge you to check it out. It's Episode 6. You're welcome.
