Nendoroid Taneshima Popura Review

Occasionally you run across a figure that is absolutely perfect within its product line because of its representation of the character. Nendoroid Taneshima Popura from Working!! is one of those figures. A small scale suits her best, don't you think? Sorry, Popura.

Her box is the standard size, but comes with an array of fun character-specific accessories to play with. Like Menma, Popura comes with more extra arms than anything else to hold her stuff as well as achieve some of the poses. She also comes with a menu, a tray with drinks on it, a step stool, and the standard two extra faceplates and base. There's also an additional base meant for use with the Wagnaria playset, so that she can stand on the floor and not the plastic of her stand. I don't have the playset though, so I think the only use it'll get is if I need it for a photoshoot.

Her ponytail comes as a separate piece that attaches to the back of her head using the same ball joints as her neck and legs, so there's a pretty good amount of articulation you can get out of it. I put it to the side in these pictures out of my own preference; the inversion on the stand arm keeps it out of her hair's way. The base of the stand also seems to be made of a different plastic than usual; it's thicker, clearer, and sturdier. I don't know if it's a one-off or if Max Factory is going with these kinds of stands from here on out, but it's nice all the same.

I really, really like her accessories, they're so perfect for her character. My favorite is probably the step stool, since she looks so indignant about being reduced to Nendoroid size that I find it funny. The only downside with this, and is has to do with the stand, is that she's not actually standing on it--she's floating slightly above it, so any movement knocks it out of place. I just can't get the stand in the right position so that Popura's feet can touch it and keep it in place...

Her cup tray and menu are also really cute additions. She comes with special arm pieces for each one. The one that's meant to go with the menu was a little small on mine, but it held just fine. The little details really stand out here. The cups actually look like they're full of water. I also find it amusing that they included a pointing hand meant to go with these poses, since I don't think Popura ever ordered anyone around in the anime... Or if she did, she'd be unsuccessful...

Overall, I have nothing but praise for this figure. If you're familiar with the character at all, you'll know that putting her in the Nendoroid line is a perfect fit. There also wasn't much room to mess up the design of the waitress uniform, and the simplicity of it turned out well; there was no paint transfer or bleeding on my figure! Part of that probably has to do with the large amount of plastic she was wrapped in. Anyway, she's a great figure, easy to pose, the waitress uniform works well with other Nendo heads, and adorable to boot. If you're a fan of her character, this is the figure to own.

Pictures by me.
