Lovely.
Fantastic.
But it's okay because he has a ~tragic background~ |
Seriously? |
He calls her names, has almost raped her several times, sucked her blood, and nearly drowned her in a pool, but since he gave her a towel everything's okay now? What?! |

I can't stop laughing, I can't stop laughing LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL! This is funny. I think I will watch this show after all just to get a few more laughs, but your post about rape culture was interesting. I remember I felt similarly about My Little Monster. Haru's actions were quite a turn off in that series.
ReplyDelete*takes a bow*
ReplyDeleteThanks! I admit that I laughed at the pool scene, mostly because it reminded me of the roof scene from Amnesia. And I'm glad you found the My Little Monster post interesting! Although this time it looks like the fandom is in near-universal agreement about this show being creepy.
ReplyDeleteI personally like shows like this...why? I will honestly say I don't know. Yes I agree they tend to be far fetched, but the things coming out now, what's not? I find that now-a-days men tend to be...well....less manly. I've always liked slightly dominant men, in fantasy and in life. Nothing too extreme, but give me some sexual tension mixed with male assertion and bam, you've got me hooked. Yes Diabolik Lovers did push it, but to be honest, I've read worse.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this. It's a nope.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would like to take this opportunity to quote the title for my post in regards to my first impression of the series, which describes my distorted, mixed emotions watching the first episode: "Diabolik Lovers is a sadistic fujoshi bait your fujoshi may not like
."
Good article! I do kinda disagree on one part though; I don't think that this show *wants* to be funny, since it's played all of this straight. It's definitely *unintentionally* funny though!

ReplyDeleteTrue.
So much rape I can't even.
ReplyDeleteSame.
ReplyDeleteI really just wanted to sock all of those guys. It wasn't hot because she obviously was not into it.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I would have an entirely different opinion on it if it was consensual, but the show goes out of its way to make it clear that it's not. -_-
ReplyDeleteThe story is originally about 6 twisted , and sadistic vampire
ReplyDeletebrothers who will make the heroine Yui Komori in to a complete masochist
, with torturing and blood sucking, until she starts enjoying it
-becoming either their "Sacrificial bride"(a human that live forever for
the sole purpose to feed the vampire clan leader) or join them as a
vampire bride.
Yet torture and pain never end.
Diabolik lovers it a otome game that became so popular it was adapted in to an anime.
The targeted audience are female masochist and girls who have masochist fantasies
And that's perfectly fine. People are allowed to enjoy whatever they want, but not everyone enjoys things the same way. These are just my views on the show; I mean nothing personal towards it's audience.
ReplyDelete(And I laughed a lot at that scene too; the "fantastic" there wasn't completely sarcastic. XD)
