Now this is how you start a season.
It's only the first episode and I already love everything about this. Anime may be obsessed with high school, but I really hope that having an older character in the main role starts to catch on. It also helps that the show seems to have a great sense of humor ("Kids, don't headbutt your superiors!") yet I wouldn't call it a comedy show. It's got a genuine sense of heart to it, since it looks like the thematic center will be about following your dreams. This first episode pretty much follows the synopsis on MAL but I'm already really excited to see if Mutta can make it to Mars, especially since his brother has a head start on him. And even though Mutta is a former Japanese car designer ten years in the future, I'm already finding myself relating to him; the repeated line "the older brother should always go ahead of the younger one" struck a cord with me since I'm an older sister myself. I was tentatively interested in this when I wrote up the season preview, but now I'm really excited about this. I can easily see this becoming the fan favorite, if not the sleeper hit of the season.

Pff I didn't even want to watch this. I couldn't help it in the end. Hiroaki Hirata makes one do very strange things.
ReplyDeleteAnd damn, I was crying and smiling with him at the end. I love this sooo much
If we care this much after one episode, what's going to happen to us by the end? D:
ReplyDeleteWe will probably sheed tears of joy. I hope.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of brothers before the space. I didn't quite get emotional over the end though it was rather uplifting. I hope they can keep it up for the entire run of the series.
