She asked for my attention, and she got it.

I didn't include this in the season preview because I wasn't sure if it was actually happening (it was listed for last season too). Obviously, it is happening, and it couldn't be more fabulous. My experience with the Lupin franchise up until this point has only been with The Castle of Cagliostro movie (a wonderful film, in my own opinion), and to say that this show differs from that movie would be the understatement of the year. This is clearly the "darker, edgier, sexier" version of Lupin, but it doesn't force any of those elements. The animation style alone makes it a great entry for the "anime is art" category, and I think that this is already a must-see series for any anime fan...provided that they're mature enough to handle Fujiko naked (or half-naked) for the majority of the episode. Those of you concerned about possible censorship in the Funimation stream have nothing to worry about; there's an age-block on their website, so no black bars or redone shots. In a show like this, where every shot is highly stylized, censoring would've been a shame.

  1. From the look of it, it's taking a cue from the movie Redline. The screenshots look very similar to the art they used for that movie. And trust me, I'm not complaining! That movie looked great as well.

  2. You're right in thinking that, since the director was involved with Redline! :D

  3. Huh. I haven't noticed much censoring in the show. Seems Funi's being smart about this :D

  4. Yeah, I'm really happy that they went with the "age-gate=no censoring" idea. :D
