Black Rock Shooter TV Episode 3--Worst Counselor Ever

And I thought that the previous episode's cliffhanger was confusing.

So my guess last week that the basketball chick was Black Gold Saw turned out to be wrong as apparently not everyone gets a badass hot-pants wearing alter ego. Instead, they made it really obvious that the counselor is who we should be keeping an eye on. In fact, the only thing that would've made it more obvious would be if there was a flashing neon sign over her head that read "I'm the antagonist." While I've been a bit suspicious of her since the first episode, with the whole "It's okay, your alter ego will take care of it," I honestly didn't expect her to have an alter ego herself, since the OVA and the show so far have been completely focused on mirroring the preteen melodrama. That said, it's not like this reveal completely turns the show on its head or is even particularly surprising. Now we have a clear-cut villain. That's it. What she intends to accomplish by preying off of the fears of her students and finding out which ones have other-word counterparts beats me. If the reasoning ends up being "It's because she's an adult and therefore EVIL" I will flip a table.

Speaking of faulty reasoning, remember how I said that I was glad that Yomi's jealousy plotline from the OVA wasn't here. Well, it's back and it makes even less sense than before. Since Yomi is now a character who knows what it's like to be in an obsessively controlling relationship, why is she starting to act the same way about Mato? Maybe she was better off feeling persecuted by Kagari after all. And what about the alternate world? Like at the end of the last episode, this episode seems to hint that the things that happen in BRS's world can effect the real world in the same way that it's been a metaphor for the real world all this time... At least, that's the only explanation that makes sense right now, since I didn't catch onto anything that could be metaphorically interpreted as decapitation. This show needs to inject some rules for its own world before the whole thing spirals out of control. I'm starting to think that it would've been a much better idea to just adapt the PSP game instead of rehash the OVA with some added elements, and I haven't even played it!
