In what kind of relationship can you "say anything"? As lovers? As spouses? As co-workers? As friends?
One of the things that I like best about this show is the way that it handles relationships, and how no two are alike. And as we get closer to the final stretch, it looks like the show is shifting its focus directly on romantic relationships after all of the buildup throughout pretty much its entire run. This episode was pretty much a showcase of the different stages of romantic relationships, from an engaged couple planning their wedding to a widow who never feels alone. And there's the continued awkwardness of Minchi's one-sided crush on Tohru as it becomes even clearer that he just doesn't see her that way. The one non-romantic relationship that still got the spotlight this episode was friendship, and the kind of arguments that can drive people apart.
In an attempt to answer the question above, I don't think that being able to "say anything" necessarily has to come from a romantic relationship. It can also be between friends or family members; what it seems to come down to is how much trust you have in the other person. Minko may have been horrible to Ohana in this episode, but I think that it somewhat came from a part of Minko that understood that Ohana would still be the same regardless of what she said to her. If she was just as candid with Tohru, what would happen? She doesn't have the same sense of security in their friendship to "say anything" and take it to another level. But with Ohana she believes that she can throw rocks at their friendship and it will still be the same. Should she take advantage of this in the way that she has over most of the season? I don't think so. But if Ohana doesn't put her foot down, then this "say anything" kind of relationship will quickly turn toxic. And it is past time for Minchi to be open about her feelings to everyone.
