Blood-C Episode 5--FINALLY

Blood-C Episode 5 Screenshot 1

Since the second episode, I've been waiting for that "oh crap" moment that meant that the plot was going to arrive. And it finally happened at the end of this episode.

It was clear from the beginning that something was going to happen, since this episode broke away from the formula established by the last four episodes and started with a monster fight instead. Saya actually managed to save someone this time around, and also proved that she's not completely reliant on the holy sword, since she took out the monster with her bare hands. The battle itself continued to drop the vague hints that those watching have become familiar with ("One... or two?") as well as clarified that the covenant was between the humans and the monsters. The school-life stuff comes mostly in the second half of the episode, focusing on a "ghost story" that is actually parallel to what is happening in the town now. Although it didn't necessarily provide any new information, it did show that the monster-fighting is something that's been going on for a long time.

Of course, difference in setup isn't enough to distinguish this episode. That moment comes at the end of the episode, when an Elder Bairn break through the ground at the shrine, in broad daylight, and tries to attack one of the twins. This was so unexpected and awesome, exactly what I've been waiting for all this time. Other people have mentioned that the show would probably get more interesting at the point when Saya's true nature is revealed, and it looks like that's finally going to happen. I expect nothing but good things from here on out, as we've had more than enough buildup, and I'm assuming next week's episode will reward my patience.

  1. You are truly patient. It's weird seeing only one of the twins like that!

Thanks! And yes, it is. Apparently they can have different opinion despite the way they act.

Yep, that's CLAMP for you. And I don't blame you for still not wanting to watch it. It has been getting annoying waiting for this point.
