Despite a drop in animation quality in some scenes, this week's episode didn't skimp on plot. The introduction of a rich philanthropist with new ideas about how to survive the Financial District casts some doubt on Mikuni's intentions. Is economic stability worth sacrificing the future?

Its interesting how the public speeches in this episode were also indirectly commenting on the Financial District.
QUALITY ANIMATION
Queer Eye for the Straight Deal
The show still hasn't revealed the meaning behind the gold eyes, since they don't only show up during deals. I think that it has to do with the Midas reference--everything they touch turns to gold.
The future is an unfinished picture... The symbolism is further reinforced later, with the pictures made by the kids.
Opposite impressions.
Now all he has to do is start a band and he'll be the perfect celebrity!
Really? CG for this scene?
She acts pretty laid back in this episode, despite the subject matter. I wonder if it means something or if I'm reading too much into it.
In return, I will give you the Greatrelish Hamburger.
At least, that's what the show has been setting up all this time...
I don't think it's just his eyes.
It probably wouldn't have worked out.
And it's highly implied that it's Mikuni's men...
This car and Akio's car need to have a showdown...
Lol. I don't think you're getting it back.
Maybe there will be some kind of worker's strike before the end of the series.
That is the question.
It does seem to be his M.O., yeah.
*dramatic music*
Even with good intentions, something will always be changed.
I'm glad that we have the co-worker character to give some perspective.
Ouch.
Is it worth it?
Q continues to say cryptic yet interesting things.
Then why are you angry?
I get the feeling that this line is going to be repeated.
D:
Regardless of whether he fully realizes it or not, I think that Kimimaro has already found a reason to fight.
I don't know how they managed to beat this thing.
Well that's, uh... yeah. That's scary.
Wait, what? Why didn't we get to see this?!
I can take a guess.
Thoughts: Remember how I said that the series would have to work really hard to make Mikuni look like a villain? It's interesting how, as a viewer, I was taken in by Mikuni's ideals in the same way that Kimimaro was. It took the introduction of a slightly different point of view in this episode to point out the flaw in Mikuni's reasoning--the flow of Midas Money into the real world and the changes that each deal makes to reality. I still don't think that Mikuni is a bad person, but are his methods really worth the ends he's trying to achieve? It's amazing how only a little over halfway through this show it's already bringing up a lot of deep questions while still having a lot of storyline material to cover, namely, the "organization," Mikuni's goals, the Financial District itself and what Kimimaro is going to do about all of it. I will say, though, that I felt cheated out of the last fight sequence. I'm sure that something awesome happened in order to get out of that bind, but we couldn't see it?! Stop spending money on CG and animate the deals fully! That aside, the next episode can't come soon enough.
