This anime doesn't beat around the bush.
Apparently, this first episode is a complete retread Onegai Teacher/Twins, which I have not seen since I was told to avoid them like the plague. So since I have nothing to compare this to... I'm pleasantly surprised. I was definitely not expecting aliens. The cast of characters seems pretty amusing as well, and while the male lead could use some work, he doesn't give off the immediate bland impression that so many other first episodes this season have. At the very least, the scene where his fantasy crosses over into reality was pretty funny. The only question that I have now is what direction this series is going to go in; is it going to focus on the romance or will there be some over-arching plot to it all? Or will it dissolve into wacky hijinks of some sort? I'm hoping for a combination of the former, and also that it'll find a way to distinguish itself from the Onegai series. At the very least it has the staff to pull it off, and the overall tone of the episode was far more serious than something that's planning out wacky harem hijinks, even with that predictable scene at the end. This episode lived up to my expectations, and hopefully the second episode doesn't send them crashing down.
