And to think, I thought that Waver would be the first one out of the running.
These guys just completely stole the show. Forget Saber, these guys are the real stars. At the halfway point of Fate/Zero (before it goes on break for some inconceivable reason) they're the ones with the most character development. They started out looking like they would be the comedy relief, but within the last couple episodes we've seen a more serious side to the pair of them and a strategy to get the Grail start to emerge with Waver as the brains and Rider as the brawn. One of my favorite examples of this is the scene where they destroy Caster's base. Waver still has a ways to go in terms of self-reliance, but you can still feel the mutual trust and respect in that scene. And of course, I can't not mention Rider's great speech about what it means to be a king. Saber's got a lot of catching up to do.
