You know CLAMP, every project that you do doesn't have to tie into your mishmash of a crossover. Really! Remember when you used to do original, stand-alone projects? No? Well, at least one major mystery has been solved.
What could have easily been a pair of episodes that pandered to the otaku database turned out to be two of the best episodes yet, utilizing the character development up to this point to create a great balance of slice-of-life and drama.
My wish gets partially granted this week as the other characters from the OP finally make an appearance. Now all we need is an overarching plot and we're golden.
After the cliffhanger ending from the last episode, it's finally safe to say that the plot is off and running, taking a page from Madoka Magica in the first five minutes (spoilers for Madoka in this post).
Since the second episode, I've been waiting for that "oh crap" moment that meant that the plot was going to arrive. And it finally happened at the end of this episode.
